Tour start and finish in Healdsburg:

When you arrive at our Touring Center in the town of Healdsburg on the morning of your tour start we’ll provide you with all the equipment and information that you’ll need for your trip. We'll fit you to your bike, outfit you with your gear and provide a custom created trip package that will include maps, route descriptions and area information. We'll take the time to review the route with you, give personal tips and advice and answer any questions you may have. After that you'll be traveling on your own, but we'll always be just a phone call away. Your rooms will be reserved and your luggage transferred and your mind at rest.

AbovethecoastDay One: Healdsburg to Bodega Bay (approximately 40 miles).

Today’s ride starts heading down the east side of the Russian River Valley towards and into western Sonoma County. You’ll then begin to make your way through the old apple country of the Graton area before tackling the Harrison Grade which climbs steadily for about 1.5 miles along a shaded creek to the Bohemian town of Occidental. In Occidental, you will take Coleman Valley Road to the coast. This road starts with a challenging 1.5 mile climb, but its well worth it! Here you will ride one of the most spectacular roads to bike anywhere in the world! After climbing from the Valley up to the ridge above the coast you’ll be greeted by incredible views of Point Reyes National Seashore, Bodega Bay, the Russian River and the vast Pacific Ocean. When you are standing on a bluff a few hundred feet above the crashing waves below and absorbing the spectacular surroundings, you quickly forget those last climbs. You'll need to watch for cows on the road along the ridge before you descend! From there you have just a couple miles along the famous coast Highway 1 to Bodega Bay where you will spend the evening.

ArmstrongDay Two: Pacific Coast, Armstrong Redwoods and Russian River Valley

Bodega Bay to Healdsburg (approximately 45 miles). Heading north on Hwy One: along the ocean bluff to the mouth of the Russian River, huge rocks and crashing waves abound.  Descend down to a secluded beach to visit with the seals sunning on the shore, or scratch your back on the mammoth rocks, before following the Russian River inland through the ranches and redwoods to the Town of Guerneville. Take a short side trip to the Armstrong Woods Redwood Preserve and be dwarfed by thousand year old trees in nature’s cathedral.  From there you’ll have the classic choice -- over the mountain or around the mountain? If you choose "over" you'll experience the steep and spectacular Sweetwater Springs Road or if you go around, then perhaps lunch and a tour at Korbel "Champagne" Cellars? Either way you’ll spend your afternoon rolling past organic farms, vineyards and artisanal wineries; before finishing your day with an amazing meal and stroll around the historic Healdsburg Plaza.

Day Three: Healdsburg & The Dry Creek ValleyVineyard Riders

Healdsburg Loop (no minimum ride distance). Discover the Dry Creek Valley with its 100 year old Zinfandel vines, family run wineries and quiet curving roads; it's a pastoral paradise. You'll have options from a casual 25 mile winery tour to the challenge of climbing to the Lake Sonoma Lookout. Pick up a picnic lunch at the Dry Creek Country Store and enjoy it at a nearby winery while tasting a classic Zinfandel. It's beautiful; it's pastoral and its bicycle touring at its best. You’ll see why Healdsburg is known as “cycling heaven”.

HoldingbikeDay Four: Healdsburg to Saint Helena (approximately 40 miles).

Follow the Mayacamas Creek through Alexander and Knights Valley before climbing over the hill to World Famous Napa Wine Region. Spend your day winding around the valley on the historic Silverado Trail. Visit our friends at Vincent Arroyo's winery, watch the guys toast a barrel at the cooperage or do an olive oil tasting with homemade bread.   Continue down valley and spend the night in the charming small town of St. Helena; known for its world class wines, natural beauty and wonderful food.

NapavalleyDay Five: Conn Valley / Chiles & Pope Valley Loop

Choose to spend a casual day visiting the wineries of Napa and Conn Valleys or be more ambitious and tackle the Pope Valley Loop. Climb east out of the valley, past Lake Hennessey and into the beautiful, quiet Pope Valley. Although it is one of the fastest growing wine regions in America, it still retains a peaceful, pioneer feeling. Heading north you’ll experience a wonderful part of rural California often overlooked by the tourists. Old cattle ranches, remote vineyard sites and massive valley oaks decorate the landscape. You’ll then climb back over the hills on the long (but not too steep) Ink Grade before dropping back into Napa Valley through breathtaking views of the Wine Country.

Day Six: Departure Day

Take a last morning spin in the St. Helena area, enjoy the day at leisure, or depart early for home.
