Wine Country Bicycle Touring Maps & Information
For driving directions to our Touring Center please go to the Getting Here page.
Favorite Casual Rides:
Dry Creek Valley - The classic wine country bike
ride. If you have only one day to explore the area this is must do! Ride 15 to
35 miles in the valley with some small rolling hills- perfect for beginners and
experienced riders alike. Pick up a gourmet lunch as you leave town or at the
Country Store and picnic at a favorite winery.
Eastside Westside Loop- This route is popular in
the bike tour books and one of our favorites as well. It's a 28 mile loop that
runs down the East side of the Russian River Valley and up the West side. It's
full of gorgeous views and brings you past some of the most popular Russian
River wineries.
Moderate Road Rides:
Healdsburg to Graton Loop- Explore the Russian
River Valley and Green Valley in the "West County". It's 40 miles of rolling
hills, great views and quiet roads. If you're making it a casual ride stop for a
great lunch at Willow Wood Cafe in Graton or to visit a winery or two along the
way.
Adventurous Road Rides:
Sweetwater Springs- This 45 mile ride takes you
down the east side of the Russian River Valley to Armstrong Redwoods Preserve
and then back over the shoulder of Jackson Mountain along the narrow twisty
remote and spectacular Sweetwater Springs Road. You'll return to Healdsburg
through the vineyards along the Western edge of the Russian River Valley.
The Geysers Loop- Follow Big Sulfur Creek into
the Mayacamas and climb to the shoulder of Geyser Peak high above the Alexander
Valley. Remote, beautiful and a guaranteed adventure!
Other Maps
The best cycling map of the area is now without a doubt the Sonoma County
Bicycle Coalition Map. Not only is it perfect for ride planning, it helps
support the non-profit coalition in it's efforts to encourage and improve
bicycling in Sonoma County. The map is easy to read, very durable and indicates
traffic volume, which roads have shoulders and the approximate grades of the
hills.
It covers all of Sonoma County and into Napa Valley to the east as far as the
Silverado Trail.
We sell this map at our touring center or you can order one in advance directly
from the Sonoma County Bike Coalition.
If you need a map that goes farther east into Pope Valley & Chiles Valley the
one from Krebs Cycle Products also indicates the grades and is available at our
Wine Country Bike Touring Center.
