4 or 6 Day Epic Sonoma County Road Bike Tour
Scheduled for
groups or clubs of 6 or more-
we've taken the best sections of our favorite "epic" Sonoma County bike
rides and made them into a 4 or 6 day tour for adventurous cyclists.
Daily distance options vary from 45 miles on up and include substantial
climbing and descending in remote areas of coastal Sonoma County as well
as cruising through the Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys.
It's fully supported and guided to insure the perfect mixture of
spectacular, challenging, rewarding and relaxing.

Day One:
"The warm-up day": Santa Rosa to Bodega Bay-
40 miles- (additional mileage options available). This ride takes you from downtown Santa Rosa
across the valley and through the coastal range to the town of Bodega Bay.
The ride starts out on a bike trail along the Santa Rosa Creek for the
first 5 miles and is all flat. Then we'll make our way through the old apple country of the Graton area
while climbing gradually to the town of Occidental. In Occidental we take
Coleman Valley Road to the Coast. This road starts with a challenging 1.5 mile
climb, but it's well worth it! We'll be riding one of the most spectacular roads
anywhere in the world! There are a few more sharp but not too long hills
before you get to the ocean, but when you are standing on a bluff a few
hundred feet above the crashing waves you quickly forget them (you'll need
to watch for cows on the road along the ridge before you descend!). From
there you have just a couple miles along the coast to the
Bodega Bay Lodge.
Approximate climbing 2500ft.

Day Two:
Bodega Bay to Sea Ranch via Kings Ridge - 52 miles-
(additional mileage options available).
Truly one of the most
spectacular rides anywhere in the world. We start with the 10 mile
cruise up coastal Route 1 before we turn inland and then follow Austin
Creek through the Redwoods to the tiny town of Cazadaro. From there
we'll be surprised to see more than a couple of cars as we make the climb
onto the ridge above the ocean and head north through the remote Coastal Range of Northern
Sonoma County. Small roads, sweeping corners and panoramic views.
It's challenging but so rewarding! By afternoon we'll turn back to
the west and make the big descent down to the coast and the renowned
Sea Ranch Lodge.
Approximate climbing 5000ft.

Day Three: Sea Ranch to
Healdsburg via Skaggs Springs Road. This is the road everyone talks about.
The most direct route from the waves to the wine takes you through some of
the most remarkable country in the area. After the rugged climb from
the coast and the sharp
descent past Annapolis we join up with the Gualala River (pronounced Wah-Lah-Lah by the locals). We'll follow the river for a few miles
climbing gradually until we turn away leaving the Redwoods behind as we
make the tough ascent to Walbridge Ridge and Las Lomas. Another fast
drop and we reach the confluence of the Wild Cattle and Warm Springs
Creeks. The final climb is a tough crawl over to the backside of
Lake Sonoma State Recreation Area rewarded with a smooth descent into the
north end of the Dry Creek Valley. From here the 12 mile roll
through the vineyards into the town of Healdsburg will seem like nothing.
Your reward will be a fantastic meal at our favorite restaurant and an
incredibly comfortable bed in a great Healdsburg Inn.
Approximate climbing 7000ft.
Day Four: It's time to relax! Let
your legs recover with a casual ride to visit the wineries and see the
sights of the Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys. We'll stroll the
gardens, eat great food and taste amazing wine and celebrate our deeds
done. Choose from a casual spin of 20 miles in the valley or if you
just can't get enough you can venture back into the hills. Either
way you'll experience "Classic" Wine Country bike touring rolling along
quiet roads through a sea of vines. You'll remain in Healdsburg for a second night.
Days Five & Six: If you choose to continue
your adventure we'll custom design two final days of supported self-guided
touring to suit your style. Keep it casual touring the Napa Valley
or get back to the hills along Big Sulfur Creek and the Geysers or over
Howell Mountain to Pope Valley.
Tour
price is $1600 per person for 4 days or $2200 per person for 6 days based on double occupancy ($450/$650 single
supplement applies)
